=69.GIAP= Formation Training
Good morning Pilot!
In this training pack we will learn to stay together in formation. Proper formation training increases our combat power. We can clear the sky around each other and be ready to attack or defend at a moment's notice. An experienced flight in solid formation will see the enemy first, they will react more quickly, spring into action in a familiar way, the wingmen will position themselves to maximum effect, we will maintain some integrity during the fight and regain it quickly soon after. Back in formation, we will be able to bug out or attack again, all while the enemy are wheeling about, trying to keep track of each other.
Most importantly, we look damn good! With the right formation we can direct the morning light off our hairgel and make each pilot's head even shinier than the poodle's balls.
This training will cover the basic aspects of two-ship formations. We will cover more detail and expand on four-ship formations during our live training.
We will often reference the formation manual in the library. Read it, love it, live it.

Route Formation.
Route is our "at ease". It is the formation we use to get to and from the combat area. It is our first building block. Not as demanding as a very close display formation and without the confusing freedom of the more advanced formations. In Route, we will be introduced to the concept of the "wingline" while we practice how to control our aircraft, how to keep it in one place relative to another.

Close Formation
Close formation is what we use for aerial display and when flying through bad weather. It has no combat potential, but it is excellent practice. "Close" is the most demanding of all our formations, especially in terms of pure stick and rudder skill. Once a student can fly a smooth close formation, he will be at home holding any position anywhere in the sky, and can concentrate on more advanced concepts.

Wedge Formation
Wedge is our first combat formation. It is fast and loose, like Tasha. Wedge is far more powerful than route or close and more fluid than line abreast, at the cost of some lookout potential. Wedge introduces a little freedom for the wingman. Freedom to make his own choices as to where he thinks he should be. A useful formation down low or when attacking ground targets, since lead doesn't need to let wingie know what he's thinking all the time. Wingie can simply adapt.

|
Line/Flex Formation
Line, or Line Abreast, is the standard yapper formation. It allows us to scan each other's six and puts us in position to react quickly, offensively and defensively. This lookout and combat potential comes at the price of flexibility, and so special turns are used to maintain formation, whether we're turning left or right or right around. Flex is Line's Spetsnaz cousin. Stronger, faster, more versatile, but harder to nail down. Flex is Line with even more freedom than Wedge.

Check Ride
The last mission will be a flight with an instructor. You will recieve more details about the formations as they are flow with human pilots. You will be introduced to 4-ship formations and asked questions about the different formations. He/She will also test that you have learned to keep formation in a dynamic environment, not just a scripted mission.
|
|
Once you have complete all missions you will receive the Formation badge.
