The Petlyakov Pe-2, nicknamed ‘Peshka’ was originally designed to be a fast, twin-engined fighter but instead it became a Soviet twin engined dive bomber! Fast, maneuverable & durable it was manufactured in large numbers & in various models. Our brave 69.Giap bomber pilots (BAP) enjoy this aircrafts speed, armarment & all round view. Used mainly for level bombing from high altitude, it can also fulfill the role of dive bombing & recconissance. When it comes to unti shipping missions, our Bap pilots have perfected a specialized form of high speed ‘skip bombing Gttks’ called the ‘Sabre maneuver’ . This requires great quantities of vodka to be drunk first but not even the most feared of enemy ships like the dreaded ‘Vaenemonium’ is safe from this highly skilled GTTK!!
The Pe-3 is modification of the above production Pe-2’s. Under great pressure for a fast twin engined fighter-interceptor, Pe-2’s were re-designed back to its original concept & converted in just 4 days into the fighter-interceptor role. The crew was reduced to 2, dive braking systems where removed, bombload was minimised & armament was increased. In total about 360 of this heavy fighters where built. This aircraft is fast, maneuverable & flown in the right hands………deadly!
Our brave 69.Giap bomber pilots (BAP) enjoy this aircrafts speed & armarment & will fly it as a multirole fighter/interceptor, light bomber, recconissance or as the ‘Russian Mossie’.
