The Il-10 Armoured Ground Attack aircraft came into service in 1944. It was originally designed as a heavy armored fighter, but before production commenced its designation was changed changed to ground attack. Due to its good speed & manouverablity it was also used to hunt down German bombers & transports, although the Il-10 could also effectively engage opposing fighters at lower altitudes.
Able to carry a wide range of modern armaments, from rockets to bombs, PTAB, A J Cassette & others it brings fear into our enemy armoured troops. Its rear gunner firing a 20mm cannon makes sure that any clever git getting on your six gets a nice taste of Russian medicine up it’s engine.
Our 69.Giap SHAP pilots enjoy this aircrafts high speed & maneuverability, effective pilot & all round armour protection combined with its weapons loadouts, making an excellent ground attack aircraft…. If only we could open those dammned side windows!! Served in Korea 1950 and with most communist countries!
