The I-153 ‘Chaika’ the last of the biplane fighters. It came from a long line of biplane fighters like the I-15bis, but had improved aerodynamics reinforced design and retractable landing gear. The upper wing again has the form of a "seagull".
We get both the Machine gun & Cannon version , both able to carry a range of bombs & rockets…..highly effective in the right hands. The Chaika will have difficulty catching up to modern fighters but once it gets engaged in a dogfight.... it’s manouverabilty makes it unbeatable.
Used both as a fighter & early ground attack aircraft in early campaigns like the Spanish civil war, China & Barbarrossa.
Our 69.Giap SHAP pilots enjoy this aircrafts great maneuverability combined with its weapons loadout, making it an excellent early ground attack/fighter aircraft.
