Soviet Medal for Vailor

TOOZ was awarded the Soviet Medal for Vailor for his exceptionsl courage in Stalingrad.

It was awarded in April 2004 as TOOZ flew in a Stalingrad campaign. The GIAP was flying against the JG51 squad. TOOZ was in an IL-2 and had gone off and done some ground pounding, killed stuff, and was entirely winchester, except for his rear gunner. He RTB'ed but stayed in the game listening to the TS chatter. Then Ozabo flew overhead in a P-39, dragging a 109 flown by a human behind him. Ozabo was smoking and entirely defensive. TOOZ started his engine again, and took off and managed to get himself between Ozabo and the 109 so he could block the 109's shot, and also let his rear gunner take a few shots at the guy. The result was that the 109 got distracted, lost Ozabo, who took the oppurtunity to land, and the 109 bugged out as he got pinged by his gunner. TOOZ then landed safe and sound, and disconnected.

TOOZ's Story:

Hi, I am Tooz (real name Mikael), I live in Glasgow, Scotland, and am currently the "so-called" Commanding Officer of this motley crew known collectively as the GeeYap within which I specialize in flying ground attack aircraft (however, that's not to say that I'm any good at it!!smile ).  And here you can see my ugly mug!!

I originally joined the GeeYap in October 2003, having been attracted to the squad because the website url was based in Denmark!!  And as I am originally from Denmark, I thought it would be cool to join a danish squad!!  However, the squad was not danish, but in fact very European with members from all over the place!!

Well, I quickly integrated myself, and really started enjoying flying multitudes of missions with my new comrades.  After a while, as my skills improved, and my preferences became more obvious, I was asked by the C.O., Roshko, whether I'd be interested in leading a new ground assault squadron to be formed within the structure of the GeeYap.  I agreed wholeheartedly as it had become quite apparent that I loved to blow stuff up with various types of ordinance, and in various types of aircraft.

And so the GeeShap was born!!  Since then members have come and gone, and I am pleased to say that we have a great squad of guys who I very much enjoy soaring in the virtual skies with, and I hope to continue to do so for some time!

Za Rodinu!
