MYATA's Story:
From the marching band to the sky
At the age of 15 Myata started to play drums. He played at the marching band of the 69 Gvardeiskii Istrebiteinii Aviatsionnii Polk of the Voyenno-Vozdushnye Sily. The comrades used to play dramatic military marches minutes before the sorties of the GeeYappers and GeeShappers (It was Stalin's idea to improve the pilots moral. In fact the only thing that happened was that take-off times were a lot faster from that moment on).
Always watching the smart pilots (and of course those girls who throw glances at them) made Myata thinking about changing profession and learning to control a plane.
After sending dozens of applications to Mayya, the beautiful girl in the administration of the base, he decided to try out a different strategy to claim his goal.
One night he stole a Fiat Cr-42. Because he was reading books about planes and also was talking a lot to all the pilots he knew a little about handling it and so he really managed to start the engine and even to taxi to the runway and take-off. The reason why nobody caught him was simple. A big party in the mess and of course a lot of vodka (you know, this cleaning stuff for tractors they distillate at the base).
Myata climbed up to 3000 meters when suddenly the roaring sound of something really huge reached his ears and in the next moment he saw a German bomber approaching on the horizon. What should he do?
Full of enthusiasm and adrenalin he decided not to land but to engage the enemy – and was lucky. Right before he reached the defensive guns of the bombers range some Yappers engaged and shot it down. All hell has broken loose. They heared the (of course not so smooth and quiet) taxiing from Myata and Komandir Stenka instantly gave the order to bring down this bloody git and, if possible the Cr_42 in one piece.
So what happened next? Myata had to clean up the mess and the latrines form months but he also got permission to do the Basic Training. Za Rodinu!
