Mayya Raskova Tyminski - The 'Rose' of Stalingrad: Mayya, a former model in her teens for the 'Woman's Cooperative Union' magazine, went quickly up the ranks in the NKVD, however is now a high ranking, highly decorated Administration & Inspection Officer working for General HQ. It is said that even Comrade Joseph Stalin has this poster of Mayya (see right) in his bedroom and it is rumoured he even asked her to marry him. She refused the offer as she didn't like bushy moustaches! It is believed that because of this refusal, he entered into a depression and invaded Poland! He then transferred Mayya over to General HQ. Mayya has been sent from GHQ to oversee the running of the 69.Giap base after several rumours getting back to GHQ of indiscrepancies, inefficiencies, lack of dicipline and other such 'goings on.' Her initial report, full of leading evidence against several top ranking members of the squadron, has been shelved for the moment as she gets to know the boys better and tries to turn things around in the squadron's favour. Since her arrival, Mayya has been responsible for opening Mayya's Drive-In Movies, so the boys have some entertainment to keep them out of mischief when they are not up in the air or in the guardhouse. She has also edited & illustrated the bases 'How to Fly' manual, a much needed resource for the training kadets. Mayya has been learning how to fly with a few lessons from Stenka and she also joined in a dog fight challenge between Alexej & Stenka as Alexej's gunner. The result was a draw and Mayya was impressed with her gunnery skills and hopes to do this again soon. |
